Healing Powers of Psychedelics Film Release

Healing Powers of Psychedelics Film Release

Join filmmaker and psychedelic advocate Mareesa Stertz as she travels the world, exploring firsthand the alternative medicines and ritualistic practices being used to treat depression, addiction, PTSD, and trauma. By creating an awareness around these tools and how they address widespread mental health issues, Healing Powers aims to normalize the dialogue around emotion and trauma, celebrate exploration of the psyche, and encourage us to release that which holds us back from living our fullest lives.

Modern education systems teach us personal hygiene and physical education, but we’ve somehow managed to mostly ignore emotional intelligence, and the imbalanced state of the world reflects that. The world health organization now lists depression as the number one affliction, affecting 300 million worldwide. I believe that by celebrating a dialogue where we open ourselves vulnerably and share our emotional experiences and traumas, we begin to normalize the conversation around these processes. Through this, we create more demand for these unorthodox tools, and allow for a more direct route to healing, which will, in turn, bring balance back to us all.

Mareesa Stertz is an LA-based filmmaker, host, and KRI certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher who’s spent most of her life working at unraveling the impact of emotional experiences on the psyche. Her quest has taken her filming around the world, spending months w shamans in Peru, and hanging out with holy men in India. Her mission is to see an end to the War on Drugs and re-shape the public’s understanding of the important role marijuana and psychedelics play in improving lives. Mareesa’s work has been featured by Viceland, 60SecDocs, IFC, SPIN, Participant Media and has been shown in numerous film festivals around the world.
