Psilocybin Summit Core Values

Sometimes when you get bogged down in the details, you forget the bigger picture.

I wanted to share the core values of the psilocybin summit with you.

But I also wanted to remind myself what they are. When the project started, it felt important to have them. I wanted there to be a base code, and something to fall back on in case there was a tough decision.  Something to guide the way, and perhaps to keep me honest.  I feel like I (and the rest of the team) has done a good job of staying close to them. Even though I don’t think about them every moment, I feel like they’ve pretty much gotten into the fabric of the conference. I know that there are is always room for improvement.

If you feel like I’ve strayed in some way, please let me know. (just try to be gentle with me, I have feelings).

With less than 24 hours to go before the summit, I wanted to check in with them, and have  moment to reflect.  And I want to share them with you, too!

So here they are, for better or for worse. Maybe it’s enough, maybe it’s not.  I’m a work in progress, my values are a work in progress.  Ever upward…

What would I change? Where can we grow? a few thoughts.

I was talking to Izzy about his Sunday presentation on Sacred Reciprocity. It made me realize that while appreciation is definitely better than just straight up appropriation, how can we tell the difference is there isn’t reciprocity? How can be sure that we’re really benefiting all, in a sustainable way no less.  This is a concept that deserves much consideration and many conversations in the coming months.

We’ve all become aware that we each live in our own little bubble. My bubble is as diverse as it is (or isn’t).  It’s growing, and I’m grateful to friends who have made introductions with people I might have never met, people who I feel like are becoming friends, and who are bringing wonderful things to not only this conference but also the world. I’d like it to continue to grow. It’s enriching and healing. So, in the future? There is a psychedelic society in India! What are they up to? Inquiring minds want to know. Mongolian Shamans! Let’s hear from you! We might just have to go to the east and set up a studio in Ulaanbaatar.  We’ve got to set up a studio in Huatla. I’d like the psilocybin summit to be a true meeting of the minds. I’m really open to conversations about this because again, I only have my perspective.

Interactivity: We built a forum that participants can communicate on. (without having to be on facebook!)  I hope it gets used.  We’re going to try to grow it as time goes on.

Accessibility: We gave away a bunch of tickets. We hope to give away more. I’d like to work with some veteran’s organizations more closely in the future.

If you read this far, thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to go on this journey of reflection with me. I’ll be doing a lot more once we’re on the other side. And if you’ve gotten this far and don’t know what I’m even talking about, I invite you to take a look at the psilocybin summit here.
